FWIG Annual Membership Survey

Dear FWIG member/Prospective FWIG member,

It’s that time again! Annually we request members to renew their interest in continuing to be members and encourage new members to join Faculty Women’s Interest Group (FWIG) of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP).

We have heard your feedback that members would rather have the opportunity to opt out than be required to renew each year. We will be revising the bylaws and we will propose that change. This year, we still need to hear from you!

Membership in ACSP-FWIG is free and open to individuals who have an interest in issues related to ACSP-FWIG’s mission.

• ACSP-FWIG seeks to encourage and support women faculty and graduate students in urban and regional planning as well as men and women conducting research and outreach on planning issues critical to women.

• ACSP-FWIG gives you the opportunity to: a) network with others in North America and around the world who share your interests, b) help organize ACSP-FWIG activities for the annual ACSP conference and beyond, and c) propose projects for ACSP-FWIG sponsorship.

Please share this request for ACSP-FWIG membership information with others in your institution or network. All current and retired ACSP members and affiliates, and non-member ACSP Annual Conference participants are welcome to join ACSP-FWIG. Students are encouraged to join as well.

To set up or renew membership in FWIG, please complete this quick survey (about 2 to 3 minutes).

Applications and additional information is available for the Dissertation Fellowships, Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowships, and Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants.

Good luck!

2014 FWIG Resume Book Released!

The Faculty Women’s Interest Group (FWIG) of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) is proud to present you with the 2014 edition of a collection of abbreviated resumes of women seeking tenure-earning teaching positions in Urban and Regional Planning.

Most of the women appearing in this booklet are new PhD’s or just entering the profession, although some are employed but looking for new positions. Most are seeking tenure-track jobs, although some may consider a one-year, visiting, or non-tenure earning position.

These candidates were required to condense their considerable skills, talents, and experience into just two pages. We also forced the candidates to identify their two major areas of interest, expertise, and/or experience, using our categories. The candidates may well have preferred different categories. Please carefully read the brief resumes to see if the candidates meet your needs. We urge you to contact the candidates directly for additional information on what they have to offer your program.

On behalf of FWIG we thank you for considering these newest members of our profession.

FWIG seeks new member to join leadership team. It could be you!

FWIG will be hosting an election in the coming weeks for two purposes.
  • The first purpose is to affirm Meghan Wieters (current FWIG Secretary/Treasure) as new FWIG President through the 2015 Conference, as Corianne Scally has left her tenured faculty position and is stepping down as FWIG President at the 2014 Conference. While leadership typically passes to the Vice President, Hilary Nixon has instead supported Meghan in taking the helm.
  • The second purpose is to elect a new Secretary/Treasurer to fill Meghan’s vacated position through the 2015 Conference (a full election for all positions will be held next fall).
We are accepting nominations for Secretary/Treasurer from now until September 19th. You can find the details of this role discussed in our bylaws here.
Contact us with any questions, and forward your nominations to fwigacsp@gmail.com.
Make sure that whomever you are nominating has agreed to serve if elected. Self-nominations encouraged!
